Horror Musical Instrument - The Apprehension Engine · INDIE FILM & MUSIC

A handmade acoustic instrument built to order in Ontario, Canada. The base model, as described by the makers, includes a slack-string neck played with an included E-bow, rulers and other bowing surfaces played with a bow, a pair of friction mallets and a custom 'Rocker', with the wood chosen per unit.

How to use it in horror

Bow the rulers and scrape the friction mallets slowly to build groaning, wavering acoustic textures, and use the E-bow on the slack strings for sustained, unstable tones that can rise under a scene without any electronic processing.
