Soundscapes

A granular-synthesis instrument for Kontakt Player 6.2.2 or later, built partly from violin, electric violin, tenor violin and ciola recordings by Michael Levine. Patches are grouped into tonal and atonal pulses and textures, pads, one-shots and sound design, with an eight-slot effects chain. It takes about 1.5 GB once installed.

How to use it in horror

Use an atonal texture patch as a bed that never resolves, and push the position and grain settings during a scene so the string grain slowly breaks apart as the tension builds.
